If your child has a developmental disability, one that will significantly limit an individual's functioning in multiple life activities, then you should connect with Disability Services in Elementary School. These include (but are not limited to) Medicaid/Medicare, Supplemental Security Income/ Social Security Disability Income, Department of Mental Health, Department of Health & Senior Services, Special Health Services, Developmental Disabilities Services, Centers for Independent Living. Often times these agencies have long waiting lists that can take years to process.
