Career Day/Job Shadow

Students should start thinking about careers in elementary school. Accompany your child to see what a job is like and if possible have them ask questions of people who work there. Even at a young age, children know what they like and don't like and this will help them to explore options and narrow down what they might want to do later on in life. In Middle School, students can have the opportunity to shadow a professional for a portion of the day to experience what work is really like. This is usually done with a teacher and a small group of students, but can be done in a variety of ways.
